How to Draw Candies & Sweets Step by Step

This tutorial shows how to draw different types of candies and sweets with a total of ten different examples. It provides a step by step breakdown of the drawing process for each of them.

You can see the different types of candies included in this tutorial in the preview above. All of these are quite easy to draw but some are simpler than others and will have fewer drawing steps.

It’s recommended that you first outline each one in pencil and then trace over your lines with a black pen or maker. However some of these are so simple that if you are confident in your drawing skill you can simply outline in marker right away.

How to Draw Lollipop Step by Step

To draw a Lollipop start with a circle and then add the little stick the candy sits on.

When coloring leave a little white highlight to show that it has a smooth shiny surface.

How to Draw a Candy Cane Step by Step

To draw a candy cane begin by outlining it’s main shape (the cane). This will be a curve followed by a straight line. Afterwards draw a series of stripes along the cane with two curved lines for each one.

When coloring leave the the cane white and make the stripes red.

How to Draw a Wrapper Candy Step by Step

To draw a candy in a wrapper first outline the part that covers the actual candy as shown in the exampe. Next draw the little parts of the wrapper that stick out to each of the sides. Make each one narrower at the base and wider as it goes out.

Finally add some folds (again as shown in the example) and color the wrapper. In this case it will be a light blue but you can make it a different color if you like.

How to Draw a Mint Step by Step

To draw a mint like the one in the above example start with a circle and inside it draw a swirl. Create the swirl by drawing a bunch of curves that start from the center of the candy and get wider as they go to the outer edge. You can draw each one with just a pair of lines.

Once done with the line drawing color the swirl red.

How to Draw a Chocolate Drop Candy Step by Step

To draw a chocolate drop you can start with the sides each of which will have a bit of a wave in it’s shape where it first cures one way and then the other. Join these at the bottom with a smooth curve. This will give you the first shape in the above example. You can then add the little tip that that curves downwards as shown in the next step. Afterwards you can simply color the chocolate drop a light brown.

You can also draw a chocolate chip in the same way.

How to Draw a Jelly Bean Step by Step

A jelly bean is very easy to draw. You can make it the same as that of a real bean. Draw it with a light curve and rounded ends.

When coloring the jelly bean you can leave a little white highlight shaped similar to an oval to show that it has a smooth shiny surface. In this case the jelly bean will be yellow but you can make it a different color if you like.

How to Draw a Caramel Candy Step by Step

Caramel candy are often shaped as shown in the example above (as a cuboid). In this case it will be drawn in 3/4 view.

You can start the drawing by first outlining one side, then add the next one and finally the top.

To color the caramel make it a very light brown.

How to Draw a Marshmallow Step by Step

A marshmallow is generally shaped like a cylinder. To draw one start with it’s top. While it will be a circle if you look directly at it, viewed from this angle the top will actually look like an oval and you can draw it accordingly. You can also leave a bit of a break in it’s outline. Afterwards add the sides with a pair of straight lines and the bottom with a smooth curve.

Don’t worry if your shape is no perfectly symmetrical as marshmallows are often slightly warped as well.

You can finish your drawing by coloring the marshmallow a very light yellow.

How to Draw a Chocolate Candy Step by Step

Chocolate candy like the kind you find in a box can come in many shapes and sizes. In this case it will have a very simple shape as shown in the above example.

Simply draw it’s outline with a two curves, one for the top and one for the bottom. Next you can color the candy a dark brown and leave a little white highlight to show that it has a smooth surface.

How to Draw a Chocolate Almond Step by Step

A chocolate almond is another candy that is very easy to draw. Begin by outlining it’s shape as shown in the example. It should be very similar to an egg but slightly longer.

You can then color it a fairly dark brown and leave a bit of an oval shaped highlight to show that it has a reflective surface.
